A letter to ATLUS.

Hello Atlus!

I just wanted to let you know as a fan that many others and myself are considering you as one of the greatest video game companies of all time.

We will continue to support you and your products, and continue to buy your games because you treat your fans and supporters well.

Atlus has not failed to put out quality games, and never skimps on giving the fans what they want.

We are seeing more and more game companies fall and fail, and they are losing our trust, and support such as Sega, Square Enix, and Capcom.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy and appreciate other games, but I feel as if you give back to your fans more.

That Holiday e-card you sent out to our emails of Teddie was heartwarming, and you have not been putting out crappy games from what I can think of EVER.

Many others agree with me. Here is a quote someone told me the other day:

"Atlus is truly my favorite game developer/publisher out there.
They have fantastic customer support, bring us fantastic translation games from Japan, and they just generally care about their customers/fans. These folks set the bar for all game developers/publishers, and the rest out there could learn and thing or two from them."

I completely agree, and all I can say is this may not reach many people, or someone important or in charge at all, but I felt the need to put it out there that Atlus is doing a fantastic job at keeping us happy and staying true to how they make their games.

If that wasn't true, well, I wouldn't have been buying your games all these years, but I am, and many others are.

We are all so excited to see what you put in front of us next, and we appreciate your hard work and dedication.

Atlus creates masterpieces. It is as simple as that.

P.s. I can't wait for Etrian Odyssey IV. Awesome job on P4 Arena and Code of Princess recently.

Stay good Atlus, you are at the top.

Sincerely, Khmasterx.

Dead Rising 2 - Don't knock it till you try it.

So about a year, or two ago I was at my friend's house watching him play the newly released Dead Rising 2, the first day it came out.

At the time I was not a very big fan of Zombie/Survival games, although I had played my fair share, but I had heard a lot of good things about Dead Rising, and I also heard a lot of Skepticism.

When you first start playing Dead Rising 2, the main character, Chuck Greene, a famous motocross star, is put on a TV show called, TERROR IS REALITY. On the show Terror is Reality, your host, TK, explains the rules of how you must basically kill all of the zombies in the ring, using your bike, and whoever kills the most wins.

Simple Enough, Might I add, Terror is Reality is also Dead Rising 2's multiplayer, and before I go on let me talk about how much fun it is.

There are about 8, or more different mini-games, or so I have seen , where you compete against other players by killing Zombies in different ways.

There are 3 "games" to play which could consist of shooting zombies, killing them and spurting zombie blood into zombie heads accross the court, or even rolling in a hamster ball like a game of tag. The 4th round always ends with the original challenge where you try to kill as many zombies as you can on your bike.

The multiplayer may sound stupid, but it is in fact a lot of fun! Also, a major plus of playing the multiplayer is that you win cash from it, that you can actually cash out at the end and put it into your Story mode of the game, and it is completely usable for Chuck.

As for co-op you can also go into any game and play with someone else slaying zombies.

Now for the main plot of the game, again you are Chuck Greene, and you and your daughter are running from zombies, and barely escape alive into a safe house in Fortune City, Nevada. Apparently, Chuck's wife died from a zombie attack, and his daughter Katie was bitten, and can turn any day, if you do not bring her the antidote: Zombrex, every 24 hours between 7am - 8am.

Chuck and everyone else, is stuck in the safe house until the military arrives in 72 hours. The guy running the safe house will not let you stay unless you bring back Zombrex for Katie.

In these 72 hours of the game you can: Save survivors in fortune city which are scattered, do quests, which involve saving people, or fighting mini-"bosses", or just run around and slay as many zombies as you can, create combo weapons, or mix drinks ect.

As for the combination weapon system, it is AWESOME. You can pick up random items as long as they have a wrench icon, and mix and combine different weapons to create an awesome one. For example you can combine a flashlight and gems to create a lightsaber. Use Water guns, boxing gloves, chainsaws, propane tanks, wheelchairs, guitars, you name it. There are plenty of combinations, and stores to keep you busy for hours.

At the core of this is a really good game. It could keep me busy for hours, if I wanted to do a playthrough run of just slaying zombies and ignored the side quests and the main story, which you can do.

But overall, the story is pretty deep, and also entertaining, personally, I could play this game through a few times whether it be the story, or just running around on my own leveling and such.

Dead Rising 2 is an awesome game, and I can't wait to play more. Don't be skeptical if you are, I would try it if I were you since you can typically get it anywhere for 20 dollars now. It's well worth it if you're looking for either a shorter plotline, and countless things to do.

Might it also be noted, that there is some customization other than weapons in Dead Rising 2. You can also customize Chuck with different outfits, different hair, and even ride around on a skateboard, drive a hummer, ect. Chuck can also bring back toys from toy shops for his daughter Katie, giving him an experience plus.

Dead Rising 2 is a game that you shouldn't pass up if you are into zombie survival games for sure. It has plenty to do, and a great replay value.

Overall, I give Dead Rising 2 a rating of 9/10.

SEGA has gone Ape SHIT

Does anyone remember the days of the Sega genesis, or the Sega Dreamcast?

Those were great days.

Now, I am bringing to attention that recently Sega has been putting themselves exclusively on Santa's naughty list by pissing off EVERYONE.

This includes their FANS.

Sega is just upset that they aren't making it big in the video game world how they used to be, and are taking it out on their loyal fans by flagging many videos on youtube, and upsetting these youtubers and taking down their channels. Many of these youtubers are LOYAL fans. And how has Sega been repaying them by spreading publicity for their company and their games? Basically by shitting on them. Sega is literally shitting on all of their fanbase.

Now we have come to find out, that Sega is trying to sue Level 5, which is an independent game developer, and they are trying to sue them for a style of handheld gameplay..... where you MOVE THE CHARACTER WITH THE STYLUS. Pretty sure most handheld games use that feature...

BUT Sega is going after Level 5 because they think they can be the bully. WHY ARE THEY DOING ALL THIS ANYWAYS!? SEGA This shit you are pulling makes you look like an asshole.

That's it i'm out, just trying to spread the word on sega's tyranny. I'm a huge sega fan btw but they are pulling this stupid crap and it pisses me off.

Video Game Awards 2012 - Thoughts

VGA Awards 2012 -

Here are my thoughts on the video game awards.

Basically I didn't care about any of the bands or the celebrities, or anything like that. I just cared about the games, so my views on the games are what you will get.

First and foremost.

GAME OF THE YEAR:

The winner was The Walking Dead.
Nominees: Assassins Creed 3, Dishonored, Journey, and Mass Effect 3.

Honestly I did not really care which game of the year won, because I thought they were all great games. Personally, I had my bets on Dishonored, and Mass Effect,  but I was surprised with The Walking Dead, which I suppose is a good thing.

BEST XBOX 360 GAME:

Winner was Halo 4.
Nominees: Assassins Creed 3, Borderlands 2, and Dishonored.

I expected Halo 4, and was actually glad that it won. Assassins Creed 3 I feel, didn't apply to the LARGEST AUDIENCE of gamers, same with dishonored. Halo 4, in my opinion, deserved best 360 game.

BEST PS3 GAME:

Winner: Journey
Nominees: Assassins Creed 3, Borderlands 2, and Dishonored.

The Reason Why I feel Journey won best PS3 Game is because it is a PS3 Exclusive and reached so many people. Also, it is by the same company that created FLOW and FLOWER which are extremely popular indie games for the playstation 3.

BEST WII/WII-U GAME:

Winner: Super Mario Bros U
Nominees: The Last Story, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Zombie U.

Now lets face it. EVERYONE knew that Super Mario Bros U was going to win. Mario is a gaming trademark. I would have liked, and I voted for The Last Story to win, but none of these titles could have held up to Super Mario Bros U.
The Last Story is a beautiful game period. But It did not reach nearly enough people since it came out just at the Wii's end. Xenoblade Chronicles didn't have much hype, unless you are a Xenosaga fan, which honestly, I'm not. I liked the games a bit, and tried them out, but the cutscenes are just too DAMN LONG.
As for Zombie U, I feel like not everyone has gotten the chance to play it because not everyone can afford a Wii-U, and despite all the hype over Zombie-U I have heard and seen that it is nothing very special and it seems it was not worth all the hype it brought, but it was obvious it would as a Wii-U launch title.

BEST PC GAME:

Winner: XCOM
Nominees: Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, and Torchlight 2
Xcom came as a suprise to me, even though i've heard nothing but great things about it. Plain and simple I had my money on Diablo 3 due to all the publicity and the fact that I'm a blizzard fan, but also Guild Wars 2, simply because I played the first and of all the hype it got.

BEST SHOOTER:

Winner: Borderlands 2
Nominees: Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Halo 4, and Max Payne 3
Let me say I was EXTREMELY excited that COD didn't win. That was basically awesome for me. No offense to anyone who likes it, obviously its a good game because it's so popular, but it's just not my kind of game. Borderlands deserved the spot because of it's multiplayer, I was rooting for that and Halo 4. I've been pretty iffy on Max Payne 3, and I've seen some iffy reviews for it as well.

BEST ACTION ADVENTURE GAME:

Winner: Dishonored
Nominees: Assassins Creed 3, Darksiders 2, and Sleeping Dogs.
I was again, not suprised that Dishonored won because of how popular it's been. Although I was dissapointed because I've heard nothing but good about Sleeping Dogs, but I feel it did not reach as large of an audience that it could have. Nonetheless I will be picking up Sleeping Dogs in the future.

LETS MAKE THIS FASTER.

Best RPG: Mass Effect 3
I KNEW IT WOULD WIN MASS EFFECT IS AWESOME compared to the other nominees.

ok i'm done.

Besides Persona 4 Arena getting BEST Fighting game I was STOKED.

I was pissed about: Game of the DECADE.

It should have been my pick: Shadow of the Colossus. Because the last decade was practically defined by RPGS. I also thought Windwaker should have won, but half life 2 took the prize.

Wii Sports being nominated was a joke... no offense to that. lol

Anyways, those were my highlights of the VGAs. See ya guys, Khmasterx out.

LittleBIGPlanet Karting gets 2 thumbs up from me

So tonight my girlfriend and I watched the VGA Awards, I'll note on that later. I also played a few game demos which I will also note on later but i played the demos for Resident Evil 6 and Devil May Cry (DMC) and Double Dragon Neon. I also downloaded the demo to check out LittleBigPlanet Karting. I'm not big on racing games, or any good at them so I played the tutorial and expected maybe one race as the rest of the demo.

I may not like racing games, or be any good at them, but you know who kicks major butt at them?

My Girlfriend.

She's a REAL challenge at racing games.

Anyways, I handed her the controller and let her play.

You can customize your driver which she made a unicorn riding a hover pirate ship. This game is pretty kick ass. The second race was awesome, she got 1st against the CPUs. The race was colorful and interesting, the controls sort of like mario kart.
I thought the demo would be over, but then...

I realized there were 3 more races.

So TECHNICALLY this game demo has 4 races in total, unless there are more after the fourth. That's a really long demo, which I think is AWESOME.

The third race was more like an assassin combat arena race where you try and get as many kills in the ring as possible. It reminded me of Jak and Daxter X Combat Racing.

The third race was sort of.. well you're driving this big dragon and killing the trucks. it's timed. and you have usually a total of 30 seconds. The more trucks you kill the more time you get. Mines continue to drop and make you swerve, causing you to lose control of your dragon vehicle.

Currently I'm watching her suffer through this because she's trying to kill all 40 trucks to get a good surprise. She's at 35. Honestly I don't think I could get all 40 I suck at these type of games. XD Except Midnight Club and Jak X I'm shit at racing games. lol

Anyways LittleBigPlanet Karting is not just for kids if that's what you're thinking. I feel like anyone could pick it up and have fun with it, sort of like Mario Kart. I give it two thumbs up.

That's all for now, I will be commenting on the other game demos, and my thoughts on the outcomes of the Video Game Awards later tonight, or tomorrow. Khmasterx out! :) Stay tuned.

And thanks for checking out my blog everyone!

Minecraft vs. World of Warcraft

Minecraft. A game where the only limit you have is what you can imagine. Honestly, last year I had this friend of mine try to convert me from playing World of Warcraft to Minecraft. I watched him play and I thought it was the stupidest game ever. And Boring. I didn't get why it could be fun. Well, this year I moved in with a group of friends who are into both WoW and MC. So they sat me down and said, "We are making you play minecraft now whether you like it or not."

Boy was I taken by suprise. Lesson learned people. Don't judge a book by its cover. I now think Minecraft is great. Although I think it is terribly BORING to watch someone play it, I still enjoy playing it with my friends.

I have another friend who loves playing WoW and now he is all alone because all his WoW friends started playing Minecraft. He absolutely REFUSES to join the minecraft bandwagon. I have tried to convince him, but sadly nothing has worked.

Don't get me wrong, I love WoW and I'm not comparing Minecraft as superior to it, but right now I can only do so much more on Wow, and so much MORE on Minecraft.

Either way the only time I have to play WoW and MC is in my VERY Spare time when I'm not playing any of my other games, or need something to clear my head and just relax and forget about everything else. But I do wish I could play them more.

- Khmasterx out!

My Thoughts on Ni No Kuni Demo

So today I woke up, watched some videos on the new Skyrim Dragonborn DLC with my girlfriend's brother, and afterwards, derped around on Valkyria Chronicles for a while.

I have been waiting to play Ni No Kuni for months now, and I have been extremely excited about it, with me being a huge Miyazaki fan and Studio Ghibli.

Finally today I downloaded the demo from PSN and I was extremely excited about it. I had looked into the basis of what Ni No Kuni was about, and what the battle system is, but I had no idea how to work it once I started.

I began playing in the first section where Oliver fights the Guardian of the Woods. I was then screaming at the TV. lol I took control of one of my little monsters(excuse me i dont know what they are called) and i was having a horrible time with the game.

Soon after I died a couple times I got a hang of the game mechanics and battle system and started playing in the next fire area, which was timed as you fight to make your way up the fiery mountain, to fight the boss Moltaan.

Besides the boss fights, Ni No Kuni was beautiful. Absolutely remarkable. The surroundings were amazing, and lively, colorful, calming, and exciting. In my own words I quote "This is one SEXY ass game."

I have yet to pre-order Ni No Kuni, and I wish beyond all belief that I was able to sum up an amount of 100 dollars when the Wizard's Edition of the game came out, but alas, I will have to settle for getting the gamestop version for 60 with the additional metal case, or wait until the price drops.

Although I have noticed a pattern in new generation console JRPGS that stores will soon sell out, or stop selling them, and there are very few on Ebay/amazon that are fairly priced at all... I am also wanting to have the Magic Book that originally comes with the Wizard's Edition, but knowing how ebayer's go, the wizards edition book will most likely be 40 or 50 dollars just by itself when the game comes out.

Unless I can get some extra cash, or my job starts to decide on giving me any hours at all I do not believe I will be able to get Ni No Kuni the first day, but either way I am going to be keeping an eye on it because Ni No Kuni looks well worth any wait.

Currently Playing - Valkyria Chronicles

12/4/2012

Currently I am playing Valkyria Chronicles for my second time through. I had to comment on how it is an amazing game, and honestly keeps me entertained for hours. I can not get up or do anything else because all I want to do is play this damn game.

The story is great, the art is beautiful, the music is good, the battles are fun and turn based. They may be difficult and I might want to pull my hair out over them sometimes and scream and yell suggestive and bad words all the time when one of my troops dies and I restart, but all in all they require a certain kind of strategy that most games do not.

Playing through the beginning today I noticed how much I enjoy the customization of the tank and weapons and picking my army.

I honestly can not get enough of Valkyria Chronicles and Welkies and Alicia are so perf :3 kawaii. jk.

Playing Through Catherine - Katherine Lawful True Ending

So, my girlfriend and I sat down all day and played through Catherine to get the Katherine True Ending (we are planning on doing the evil Catherine ending next), but it was really great. I never thought I could get my girlfriend into the games that I like, but she really enjoyed Catherine because of the puzzle factor. Basically I talked to everyone and then handed the controller to her whenever the nightmare stages came about so she could take on the difficult hair-pulling part of the game.

To my surprise, later after the game was over she told me "That is possibly one of my favorite games ever" That made me feel sooo fantastic! It was crazy cause she doesn't like horror things, and if you've played anything by Atlus like Shin Megami Tensei or Persona or Catherine.. you know a lot of their games are horror based slightly. Or have just a creepy air about them. Anyways.

I had a lot of fun playing through Catherine, and it made me so happy I had Vincent dance in the bar in circles while listening to happy music from Persona 4 on the jukebox lol. This was at about 8 in the morning mind you.

The Katherine true ending brought many smiles to my face and was a good, satisfying ending.

All in all, Catherine is a game I will totally go back and play because it is just simply fantastic.

About Me

Hi. You can get to know me as KHMasterx. I am just creating this blog for fun, whether it becomes a success or not is not my goal. This blog I guess I am starting it for a personal reflection on my passion having to do with video games.

I  have been gaming since I was about 5 years old, and the first game I formed an attachment to was the game Kingdom Hearts. My favorite genre of games are RPG's, but my tastes will go almost anywhere.

Basically every day I'm planning on blogging something about what I played, or if I want to write a review on a game, or vent about a game or remember a game and talk about it.

So, that is what I have right now to get started with I suppose..

BYE :)
